As If I Needed Another Blog
You might have noticed a change to this Blog, mostly to the name. There will be more changes as I find time to give it a face lift. I originally started this Blog so that I can talk about the craft of animation and what's going on in the animation community. I thought I could interject funny things that I found on the Internet every once in a while like they way Warren Ellis does on his Blog. But somewhere it lost focus and now it seems to be more of a dumping ground for anything that I find on the web that tickles my funny bone with the occasional rant.
I decided to face this fact and I will continue to let this Blog be mostly stuff I find on the web with the occasional rant, but I decided to move the animation stuff to its own home. I decided to host that Blog on Blogspot so that I could take advantage of the built in RSS and the Blog community that already exists.
Anyhoo, if your interested in technical aspect of the craft and the business of animation, you can read that Blog. It's at: http://persistenceofvision.blogspot.com/
Otherwise stay tuned to more stuff like the zerro-G cat:)

Madagascar German Trailer
The international advertising for Madagascar has started. The German trailer just came out. I think it's better then the American trailer. You can see it here:

Warning: it's big, so it'll take a while to download.
8.1
I saw a really great trailer for an abstract animated film. I can't wait to see the whole thing. You can check it out here:

QOTD
How many Bush administration officials does it take to change a light bulb?
None. There’s nothing wrong with that light bulb. There is no need to change anything. We made the right decision and nothing has happened to change our minds. People who criticize this light bulb now, just because it doesn’t work anymore, supported us when we first screwed it in, and when these flip-floppers insist on saying that it is burned out, they are merely giving aid and encouragement to the Forces of Darkness.

Mad about Mad
I finally get some great shots (I mean great!) on Mad and what's the first thing I do? I catch a cold. It seems like a light one and it looks like I'm over the worst of it, but what crappy timing!
Other then that all is well.

What Barry Says
I saw this short film at Resfest this year. It is a great looking film that takes a shocking look at America's War on Terrorism as well as other things. Check it out:

Zoom
You'll need Shockwave to see this, but it's pretty darn impressive. It looks like a bunch of painters collaborated on a painting. When it's all put together, you can zoom in:

Mad Trailer
Madagascar, the movie that I'm currently animating on, now has an official trailer on line. You can read the Synopsis and watch the trailer here:
http://www.tribute.ca/synopsis.asp?m_id=8641
I really like this movie. Believe it or not it's really rare that an animated feature has a cartoony look to it. Most studios want to do to a realistic look. Realistic movies are a dime a dozen but a cartoony film is a rare opportunity. So when a studio does something cartoony all the animators run to go work on it.
I believe this is because most animators I know were inspired at some level by the animation that they saw Warner Brothers and MGM do. All the Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tom & Jerry cartoons were the best. They had a lot of physical humor to them. But those studios haven’t animated in that style in nearly 50 years. Madagascar is the closest I've seen computer animation come to that level of cartoony-ness.
The first time I heard about this film was three years ago. I'm really glad I've gotten a chance to work on it. Unfortunately I haven't worked on it that long. Quinn was born in the middle of production on the film so I missed a large chunk of production. This fills me with mixed emotions. On one side Quinn is the best thing that happened in my life. On the other side I've missed a once in a lifetime opportunity to delve deeper into this film. Even so, I'm glad I've gotten the opportunity to add my work to this film, no matter how small!
