Pixar Drops Disney

I'm not surprised by this, it looks like Pixar is going try it alone:

Gollum, Serkis and Uncanny Valley

Reger Ebert does a pretty interesting review of Serkis's work in The Lord of the Rings. I'm pleased to see that he points out that Gollum is done though a team effort and it's not all Serkis. Don't get me wrong Andy Serkis did some great work with the character. If the animators on feature films were allowed to go that in depth into our characters and Serkis was allowed to, you'd see a lot stronger characters in animated feature films as well. But as long as budget and time holds us back, we'll just have to make due with what we can:

Pixar is so sued!!

CORRECTION

After doing some research I decided that this is a scam. The outline to the book was published in '95. But the book itself was self published in '02. This is long after the look of the film had been established. I think this is someone out to make a quick buck.

Check out these images. A French children's book author is attempting to sue Pixar for making a movie about a clown fish that looks a lot like his book does:

It's not the first time Pixar is accused of this. The one eyed character in Monsters Inc looks a lot like a 60's poster designer's drawing. And their short film "For The Birds" looks a lot like an old CalArts student film.
